Students enjoy full day of dancing

The very first Dance Day Workshop at our school was a great success. Seventy students from Elementary, Middle and High School enjoyed a whole day of dance last Saturday.  Students were challenged to learn three different choreographies in a rotation, with each workshop lasting two hours.

Hip-hop dance teacher of the year, Damien Anyasi from the American School of London, taught our students some funky and cool dance routines. Raphael Ngom, a former ballet dancer at Royal Ballet of Flanders and Opéra du Rhin, taught our students a variety of modern dances. Enora Oplinus, finalist of ‘So you think you can dance Belgium’, gave our students a taste of contemporary dance on a professional level.

At the end of the day, all students gathered in the theatre and performed the dances for each other. Although our students were exhausted by the end of the day, the survey concluded that all students would participate again and preferably have the workshop for two days.

Students are now given the responsibility to rehearse in teams and get ready to perform their dances for The School Wide Dance Showcase on February 28. We are all excited to see them perform!
