In the past weeks, two groups of Grade 10 Individuals and Societies students were given an exciting opportunity to take part in the Parlamentarium role-play activity, in the EU quarter of Brussels.
The aim of this experience was to allow a student to step into the shoes of a Member of the European Parliament. In doing so, they took a fast-track course on how Europe’s democratically elected body works. The students negotiated with fellow students to build the future they want for Europe. In political groups, they discussed two issues, water solidarity and micro-chipping, and were successful in finding a compromise with the Council of Ministers in order to legislate.
