First Grade has just began a new Unit of Inquiry. The Central Idea of this Unit is that communities depend on everyone cooperating to reach the same goal.
To explore the concept of cooperation and working together the children were put into small groups and given the task to build the tallest tower they could using only marshmallows and toothpicks. We then had a discussion about what worked well, what didn’t work so well and why. In the end it was a super yummy task, that everyone enjoyed.
